Fairgrounds can be expensive... From what I understand they wanted to charge
to Chamber of Commerce about $60,000 to hold the flea market there. Plus
they might want to charge $3.00 a car for parking during the event. The
small building is something like $700.00 for 2 hours during the off season,
unless you pay for catering for each person attending. Then their fees range
from $18.00 to $32.00 per person.
Poncitlan would be nice for parking and electricity and it has a non-profit
discount if that is filed. The Gazebo could provide shade and there are a
few restaurants in the area that could help with food vendor issues.

Subject: [AVPPride] Moving the event
Thoughts, ideas?
I was thinking about maybe the AV Fairgrounds (for mostly an indoor event
tho we could do ritual outside..)
Or the Mystic Winds really wants us to move to Poncitlan Square (which is
way cheap, actually, prolly $40/hour to rent with electricity)
Thoughts on both of these.
1) McAdam has a lot of drop-in folks who just show up because they are going
to the park, and that helps with attendance, education, and also helps the
vendors with selling.
2) Poncitlan does not have a big playground and it's a lot smaller; and less
likely for folks to just be dropping by because it's not in a residential
area but more of a city hall area.
Problem #1 can probably be fixed with enough advertising.
I was told by the onwer of the Mystic Winds that if we held it near his
store he'd help with advertising costs, maybe buy radio ads.
For #2- about poncitlan- we already have kids activities... And they do
Thurs night on the square there which is a much bigger event than PPD and
they have plenty of room.
There is less shade there however for folks to just sit in shade.
Anyway, let me hear your thoughts??
